In partnership with local school systems, the CPC supports early-warning meetings and Truancy Court, helping students and families address attendance barriers before they become court-involved.
The Children's Policy Council of Shelby County brings together courts, schools, child-serving agencies, and community partners to identify needs early, coordinate services, and support children, youth, and families across our county.

58Threads provides court-involved youth and families with high-quality clothing in a dignified, boutique-style setting—often in partnership with DHR, foster parents, and other child-serving professionals.
Working with local partners and donors, the CPC helps enroll Shelby County children in the Imagination Library, delivering free age-appropriate books monthly from birth to age five.
The Character In Action program recognizes students who quietly demonstrate integrity, resilience, and leadership—often behind the scenes and without seeking the spotlight.
In coordination with Shelby County Juvenile Court, the CPC supports specialty dockets, including a Truancy Court focused on helping students return to regular school attendance.
The CPC hosts cross-disciplinary training for attorneys, judges, social workers, school personnel, and community partners to strengthen practice and promote better outcomes for children.
