Attendance & Prevention
Early Warning & Truancy Prevention
In collaboration with local school systems, the CPC helps support early-warning meetings, school-based teams,
and Truancy Court processes that aim to understand why a student is missing school and connect the family
to support rather than relying on punishment alone.
- Focus on problem-solving and removing barriers
- Coordination between schools, probation, and community providers
- Emphasis on returning students to consistent, meaningful school engagement
Court Support
Truancy Court & Specialty Dockets
The CPC assists the Juvenile Court in developing specialty dockets, including Truancy Court,
that use incentives, accountability, and wraparound supports to help youth return to regular school
attendance and healthier routines.
Clothing & Dignity
58Threads Clothing Closet
58Threads is a clothing closet designed to feel like a small boutique rather than a donation bin.
Court-involved youth, foster children, and families referred by partners can select clothing in a
dignified, guided setting.
- Serves youth and families referred by DHR, Juvenile Court, attorneys, and partner agencies
- Operates by appointment with a professional or caregiver present
- Funded through community donations and CPC, Inc.
Early Literacy
Dolly Parton Imagination Library
The CPC participates in and supports efforts to expand Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library across
Shelby County, ensuring young children receive free, high-quality books delivered to their homes each month.
Recognition
Character In Action Awards
Character In Action honors students who quietly model integrity, kindness, perseverance, and
leadership in their schools and communities—even when no one is watching.
Innovation
Emerging Initiatives
The CPC also serves as a home for emerging initiatives, such as innovative approaches to mental health,
neurofeedback pilot projects, and collaborative efforts to better support youth involved in the juvenile system.
